The Gatekeeper in Action: Identifying Red Flags

taught by Dilsa Bailey

Course description

OBJECTIVES:

  • Highlighting high profile cases that may or may not have caused red flags in the hiring or credentialing process.
  • Discussing examples of red flags.
  • The responsibility of the gatekeeper to have these red flags addressed and the consequences of neglectful credentialing.

DESCRIPTION:

This session will delve into the importance of thoroughly vetting the healthcare provider before contracting or affiliating. Not every file will trigger a second look, but when there is an element indicating a possible issue, it should not be discarded or overlooked. Individuals responsible for collecting, verifying, and analyzing the credentials of a provider need to be acutely aware of their role as the gatekeeper for patient safety.

Join Dilsa in a discussion on everyone’s mind, how do we keep the providers from causing harm. Is it possible?

Great presentation. Never thought to query the Social Security Death Masterfile although I'm familiar with it. This is not something that some credentialing organizations perform. Thank you for the opportunity.
